Cortisone injections

Cortisone injections

Pain often comes from a joint, muscle or tendon or from tissues around these. This pain is at least partly caused by inflammation. Injecting corticosteroid and/or local anaesthetic medication directly into the joint or the soft tissue helps to reduce the inflammation and provide pain relief. Reducing the pain may make movement easier and help other therapy to be more effective.

Cortisone is the current standard of care but there are some concerns that it can have detrimental effects on cartilage and tendons in a small number of cases - hence my interest in prolotherapy.
